With Massive Layoff where tentatively 2 Lakh IT Employees have been Stacked in just 3 Months

Big names like Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon leading the trend

This  phenomenon is really creating unrest and anxiety among many others as ripple effect ! But it is something unavoidable balancing act by founders and management who have their own rational for keeping the bottom line in green 

But how as a employee we could skip this or be prepared for this worst situation

1) Emergency fund : we need to have minimum 12 months of expenses as saving as this will provide us cushion to absorb our anxiety in short run and could give  space for clear thought process

2) Upgrading ourselves: Upgrading the learning curve should not go into normal procrastination , it should always be in our priority list 

3) Understand your strength: Understanding our strength well as well building on it is the  biggest tool against the worst happening, this is the sword which will help us to establish as a  warrior in our field as well as come over strongly from the bad phase like Layoff

At the end we could not avoid it just face as such situations pop us to make us even stronger

 एक *चूहा* एक कसाई के घर में बिल बना कर रहता था।

A mouse used to live in a butcher's house by making a hole.

One day the mouse saw the butcher and his wife taking something out of a bag. The mouse thought that there might be some food.

On looking curiously, he found that it was a *mousetrap*.

Sensing the danger, he went to the backyard and told the *pigeon* that a mousetrap had come in the house.

The pigeon jokingly said that what about me? Which one do I have to get stuck in?

Disappointed rat went to tell this thing to *chicken*.

The chicken mockingly said… go brother.. this is not my problem.

The desperate mouse went to the enclosure and told this thing to the goat… and the goat started rolling in laughter.

The same night there was a rattling sound in the rat trap, in which a poisonous *snake* was trapped.

In the dark, mistaking his tail for a rat, the butcher's wife pulled it out and the snake bit him.

When his health deteriorated, that person called the doctor. The doctor advised him to feed pigeon soup.

The pigeon was now boiling in the pot.

Hearing the news, many relatives of that butcher came to meet, for whose food arrangement the same * chicken * was slaughtered the next day.

After a few days that butcher's wife got cured, so in happiness that person kept a feast for some of his well wishers, then the *goat* was slaughtered.

*Rat* had gone far away, far away…..

_*Next time someone tells you their problem and you feel that it is not my problem, then stop and think again.*_

*_If a part of the society, a section, a citizen is in danger then the whole country is in danger._*

 एक *चूहा* एक कसाई के घर में बिल बना कर रहता था।

एक दिन *चूहे* ने देखा कि उस कसाई और उसकी पत्नी एक थैले से कुछ निकाल रहे हैं। चूहे ने सोचा कि शायद कुछ खाने का सामान है।
उत्सुकतावश देखने पर उसने पाया कि वो एक *चूहेदानी* थी।
ख़तरा भाँपने पर उस ने पिछवाड़े में जा कर *कबूतर* को यह बात बताई कि घर में चूहेदानी आ गयी है।
कबूतर ने मज़ाक उड़ाते हुए कहा कि मुझे क्या? मुझे कौनसा उस में फँसना है?
निराश चूहा ये बात *मुर्गे* को बताने गया।
मुर्गे ने खिल्ली उड़ाते हुए कहा… जा भाई.. ये मेरी समस्या नहीं है।
हताश चूहे ने बाड़े में जा कर *बकरे* को ये बात बताई… और बकरा हँसते हँसते लोटपोट होने लगा।
उसी रात चूहेदानी में खटाक की आवाज़ हुई, जिस में एक ज़हरीला *साँप* फँस गया था।
अँधेरे में उसकी पूँछ को चूहा समझ कर उस कसाई की पत्नी ने उसे निकाला और साँप ने उसे डस लिया।
तबीयत बिगड़ने पर उस व्यक्ति ने हकीम को बुलवाया। हकीम ने उसे *कबूतर* का सूप पिलाने की सलाह दी।
कबूतर अब पतीले में उबल रहा था।
खबर सुनकर उस कसाई के कई रिश्तेदार मिलने आ पहुँचे जिनके भोजन प्रबंध हेतु अगले दिन उसी *मुर्गे* को काटा गया।
कुछ दिनों बाद उस कसाई की पत्नी सही हो गयी, तो खुशी में उस व्यक्ति ने कुछ अपने शुभचिंतकों के लिए एक दावत रखी तो *बकरे* को काटा गया।
*चूहा* अब दूर जा चुका था, बहुत दूर ……….।
_*अगली बार कोई आपको अपनी समस्या बतायेे और आप को लगे कि ये मेरी समस्या नहीं है, तो रुकिए और दुबारा सोचिये।*_
*_समाज का एक अंग, एक तबका, एक नागरिक खतरे में है तो पूरा देश खतरे में है।_*

Job cuts are on the rise in tech land, as the companies that led the 10-year bull market adapt to a new reality.

Google on Friday announced plans to lay off 10,000 people from its workforce, while Microsoft said on Wednesday it was letting go of 12,000 employees. Amazon

   A fresh round of job cuts also began, which is expected to eliminate more than 18,000 employees and be the largest reduction in the workforce in the e-retailer's 28-year history.

The layoffs come in a period of slowing growth, higher interest rates to fight inflation and fears of a possible recession next year.

Here are some of the biggest cuts in the tech industry so far. All numbers are estimates based on filings, public statements and media reports:

Alphabet: 10,000 job Cuts

Google, owned by parent company Alphabet, said on Friday it would lay off 10,000 people from its workforce.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in an email sent to the company's employees that the firm would immediately move to the U.S. I will start laying off. In other countries, the process "will take longer due to local laws and practices," he said. CNBC reported in November that Google employees feared layoffs as its counterparts made cuts and that employees observed changes to the company's performance rating system.


It avoided mass layoffs until January, when it cut about 240 employees from its health sciences division, Verily.

Amazon: 18,000 job cuts

Earlier this month, Amazon

   CEO Andy Jassy said the company plans to lay off more than 18,000 employees, primarily in its human resources and stores divisions. It was said by Amazon in November that it was looking to cut staff, including across its equipment and recruitment organisations. CNBC reported at the time that the company was looking to lay off about 10,000 employees.

Amazon went on a hiring spree during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company's global workforce will exceed 1.6 million by the end of 2021, up from 798,000 in the fourth quarter of 2019. 500 job cuts announced plans to lay off 20% of its workforce on January 13. The company had 2,450 employees, according to data from PitchBook, which suggested that around 490 employees had been laid off.

CEO Chris Marszalek said in a blog post that the crypto exchange grew "ambitiously" but was unable to weather further cuts without the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried's crypto empire FTX.

"All affected personnel have already been notified," Marszalek said in a post.

Coinbase: Cutting 2,000 Jobs

   announced plans to cut nearly a fifth of its workforce in order to preserve cash during the downturn in the crypto market.

According to a blog post, the exchange is planning to cut 950 jobs. Coinbase, which had about 4,700 employees as of the end of September, had already laid off 18% of its workforce in June, saying it needed to manage costs after growing "too quickly" during the bull market. .

Restricting the Screen time for kid is not easier to do ! phone comes handy when i have to feed her in rush , not able to make myself available to engage her etc.

For limiting the screen time , I pointed what are her favorite activities - Playing in the ground , Coloring, drawing , dancing , listening stories, draping her dolls etc !

While doing this I realized that same applied to me as adult ; Phone beep is key obstacle for applying valuable deep focus !

As per the latest NFHS report, total fertility rate per woman in the Urban India is 1.6 and Rural India 2.1 and in total it is 2, even below the required replacement rate which is 2.1 (Replacement level fertility represents the level at which a population exactly replaces itself from one generation to the next) Between 1992-93 and 2019-21, India’s Total fertility rate declined from 3.4 children to 2.0 children. At the time of Independence, our exploding population was one of the biggest concerns for country, there had been dozens of governments initiative to tame this population growth Were those government initiatives only reason to fallen TFR? In Urban India where TFR hovering around 1.6, witnessing many reasons for this dip in TFR 

1) Demanding work culture/ Overworked working woman: A working mother who spends 10-11 hours of her days dedicated for Professional commitment including commute hours along with 3-4 hours for household chores hardly left with the energy to nurture the kid 

2) Biasness against the motherhood: even in some of the job interviews/ promotion indirect questions / evaluation being done on family planning of female aspirants, non-fitment being declared however citing different reasons 

3) Cost of living/ Financial burden: Cost of living in rising inflation era leaves aspiring couple indecisive to have child, • Cost of schooling: Avg desired schooling 10k/ Month/ kid, New Age international school costing even 30-40K/ Month/Kid • Cost of childcare -Sufficient amenities childcare costing 1200-1500/Hour/Kid so even 4- 5 hours childcare facility comes around 6500-7500/month/kid • Cost of food, nutrition & healthcare: Cost of feeding & nutrition something around 5- 7k/month/kid then again maintaining desired lifestyle adding into cost of living 

4) Other reason coming as delayed marriage, Individualistic life choice and Inadequate Care-giver facilities at the world level, few of alarming trend coming up which is again challenging replacement level 

1) US Birth Rate has fallen to its lowest in a decade, TFR is 1.7 

2) China’s birthrate fallen lowest in four decades 

3) Singapore’s TFR -1.1 

4) Hong Kong’s TFR -1.1 

5) South Korea’s fertility rate is only 1 What consequences our society and generation could witness with these shrinking TFR, this would lead to scarcity of working population and workforce as well as scope of innovation and creativity, it might take a toll on emotional wellbeing of society as a whole What are possible solutions by Employer and Government 

1. Better State Run Schools and medical facility which would ease the cost of raising the family in bigger cities 

2. Adding the childcare expenses into Tax rebate would be positive move towards relief in 

3. Flexible working terms for mothers, it good to see even PM Modi came up with statement as “The need of the future is flexi work hours. we can use systems like flexible workplaces as opportunities for female labor force participations” 

4. Affordable childcare facilities by employer: Employer could come up with more options for affordable childcare facilities, this would add into employer’s revenue with more engaged and dedicated female workforce 

5. Family friendly Policies and Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leaves: family time and leaves must be encouraged by employer
