When Empathy Becomes a Leadership Skill: Shiffy Srivastava on Moving From Understanding to Action

We often describe emotionally intelligent leaders as people who “understand others.”

But is understanding enough?

According to leadership and executive communication coach Shiffy Srivastava, empathy becomes meaningful when it changes behaviour.

A manager may understand an employee’s disappointment and still be unable to offer the promotion, opportunity or responsibility they want.

The emotionally intelligent response isn’t to make promises that cannot be kept.

It is to validate, explore and find constructive possibilities together.
