Its Global Aviation Recession, Pilots must co operate, Pilots’ strike grounds over 40 Kingfisher Airlines flights. 

 About 75-80 Kingfisher Airlines pilots went on a strike on Saturday, leading to the cancellation of over 40 flights across the country. The grounded flights included seven from Mumbai. The pilots were protesting the delay in the payment of salary.

Dubbing Saturday an 'important' and 'sad' day, KFA promoter Vijay Mally warned his staff that the strike would only add to problems. Urging them not to "disgrace" the airline, he warned that damaging the reputation of the carrier in the eyes of the public would not produce cash.

The airline said it had paid (February's) salary to 75% of its staff and would pay the rest by Monday. Unhappy with the strike, DGCA Prashant Sukul has warned that the carrier "would be reviewed" next week if the stir did not end by Monday

United Airlines Opens to Pilot Applications

United Airlines began accepting applications for around 100 new pilot positions to fly their commercial planes across the country.
This has been the first time in six years (since 2001) that United Airlines has opened its doors to new pilots and new ranks amongst some of their best fliers.

The company hopes that the hiring move will strengthen its business and expand their international coverage all over the world. With issues in the past, United Airlines believes this will boost the company tremendously.

Surprisingly, there is no line to United Airlines' application office. In fact, the entire application process will be online at http://united.com/pilot.

"When I heard that United Airlines was hiring, I could not wait to apply. I've always loved flying planes but never found the opportunity to work for a commercial company. I plan on applying tonight, but I know it's going to be tough being accepted. There are so many great pilots out there who would love to fly for a company like this. It would still be an amazing opportunity," said amateur pilot and Chicago resident Dan Schmidt.

However, becoming a pilot is more than just applying. United has also put forth its six-week training that captains and first officer candidates have to go through. In this training, pilots-to-be will have to learn how to work with a crew while also managing the plane. The company says this is the most vital training and must be perfected before any pilot actually gets to fly a plane for United Airlines. These wannabe-pilots will have to master the same skills as drawn out by the Federal Aviation Administration.

United expects tons of applications since it opened the site today. Once a will-be pilot is selected by United Airlines, they will have to complete the training at the company's state-of-the-art Flight Training Center located in Denver. The program will start as early as October. United Airlines hopes new pilots will be in the air by the end of the year.

On the United Airlines application site, the company has listed the minimum requirements for men and women to apply:

-1500 hours Total Time - Fixed Wing.
-1000 hours Multi-engine time (PIC) or Military fighter/trainer (PIC).
-500 hours Turbine Time.
-100 hours flown in the past year (Recency of experience).
-Current FCC license.
-Current valid passport.
-Current First Class Medical.
-Current ATP Certificate with Multi-engine land rating (AMEL).
-High school diploma or GED equivalent.
-Legal right to work in the United States.
-A college degree from an accredited school is preferred

To meet the existing and future requirement, AASL invites applications to form panel from eligible Indian Nationals for the following positions on Fixed Term Engagement basis.

I. Commanders –CRJ Aircraft

Eligibility

o Minimum 100 hours PIC on CRJ Type Aircraft

or
Co-Pilot having flying experience of 500 hours on CRJ type Aircraft with ATPL
o Should have current Indian ATPL / FRTO / RTR / IR and a current Class I Medical on the date of reckoning of eligibility.

2 Commanders- ATR Aircraft

Eligibility

o Minimum 100 hours PIC on ATR  type of Aircraft

or

o Co-Pilot having flying experience of 500 hours on ATR  type of Aircraft with ATPL


o Should have current Indian ATPL / FRTO / RTR / IR and a current Class I Medical on the date of reckoning of eligibility.



Upper Age Limit

o 50 years.  Due weightage will be given to SC / ST and OBC candidates in the interview/selection process.



General Conditions

• After verification of all necessary documents the applicants will be provisionally considered eligible to undergo the selection process.

• Candidates serving in Government / Semi Government / Public Sector undertaking should apply through Proper Channel.

• Candidates belonging to ST/SC categories will be entitled to second class return Rail/Bus fare at time of Interview as per rules.

• Due weightage will be given to SC/ST/OBC candidates as per laid down guidelines on reservation.

• Selected candidates will be engaged on A Fixed Term Engagement Agreement basis for a period of (05) Five years.

• Management reserves the right to change the conditions and criteria depending upon the requirements.

• Canvassing in any form will be considered as disqualification.

• Please note that offer of engagement is at the sole discretion of the management.  Fulfilling eligibility criteria and successfully appearing in selection process cannot be taken as assurance of engagement.

• All positions are transferable as per Company’s requirement and you are liable to be positioned at any place in India or abroad.

• Please attach a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) in favour of “Airline Allied Services Limited” payable at New Delhi.  (Not applicable in case of SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen)
