Management Story- Donkey and the Two Idiots

There was an old man and boy who worked in a farmhouse. The owner of the farmhouse told them to go to the town and buy some food grain for the animals, with the help of a Donkey. 

They started going to the town. The boy rode on the Donkey, while the old man walked alongside. As they were going, a man who is known to both the boy and old man told them, “See, the old man was walking and the young boy was riding comfortably. It’s a shame”.

The boy and the old man thought he was correct, so they decided to change their positions.

Now, the old man was riding and the boy was walking alongside. Then they saw a lady, who scolded the old man, “Don’t you have some sense. You made the boy walk and you were enjoying the ride on the Donkey”.

Hearing this both of them decided that we should both walk.

Soon they passed near a shop and stopped there to drink some water. The shop owner told, “You both are stupid or what?. You have a Donkey to ride but still you both are walking”. Then they decided both should ride on the donkey.

After some time, they saw a group of people who were passing by, scolding them, “You both don’t have any sympathy. You are putting so much load on the poor donkey”.

The man and the boy got down and started discussing. After some time, they decided to carry the donkey.

Both of them carried the donkey on the shoulder and started walking. They were struggling, as the donkey was heavy to carry. Then they came near a small bridge over a river. As they crossed, both of them lose their grip on the donkey and it fell into the river and drowned.

Seeing the donkey drowned, people started abusing the old man and the boy.

Moral of the story

In management, you will come across many situations or people where you are forced to please them. If you do so, then you have to face the consequences.

Remember, you cannot please everyone or every situation. Just give importance to the purpose and what is really required for that situation and stick to that.

If you start pleasing, throughout your life you have to keep on pleasing someone. So, stop doing it.

Freelancing Content Writing is one of the most exciting and fashionable career options in present times. Some people also think that Content Writing is not for everyone. However, it might be challenging initially, which I also thought at the beginning. But as soon as I started writing, I acknowledged that writing is all about practice and consistency. In this industry I explored various niches like editing, journalism, technology, finance, traveling, food, Bollywood and so on.

After opting for my career as a freelance Content Writer, one of the best benefits I got is that it keeps you away from anxiety and helps you to learn new things every day. Besides all these benefits, freelancing Content Writing has some following perks as well:-

Earn Flexible Money – One of the best things about freelancing is that it allows me to work on weekdays, weekends, or part-time or full-time. Now I can also choose not to work during special occasions or festival holidays and spend it with my family, which is impossible with a 9 to 5 job.

Freedom of Location – Not everyone is a fan of the office atmosphere, and I am one of them. Many people cannot bring their best creativity to such an atmosphere. Co-Branding is the strategy that strives to capture the synergism of combining two well-known Brands into a third, unique Branded product

Co-Branding is a form of cooperation between two Brands with significant consumer recognition that results in the creation and introduction of a new product on which both Brands are visible. Although Co-Branding results in the creation and introduction of a new product through collaboration, the current literature on coBranding focuses on either the creation  or the introduction of the product.


Co-Branding is a marketing arrangement to utilize multiple Brand names on a single product or service. Basically, it involves combining two or more well-known Brands into a single product. The constituent Brands can assist each other in achieving their objectives. Used properly, Co-Branding has the potential to achieve “best of all worlds” synergy that capitalizes on the unique strengths of each contributing Brand. Successful examples include Coach and Lexus, Diet Coke and Nutra Sweet, Pillsbury Brownies and Nestle Chocolate, Crocs and Disney, IBM and Intel, Betty Crocker and Hershey, Breyers and Hershey, Lays and KC Masterpiece, Sony and Kodak, and so forth. These Co-Brandings have created large benefits for stakeholders. However sometimes Co-Branding can pose the threat of differential advantage on one partner and generate potential competitors. Many a times, Co-Branding effects one partner positively and the other negatively.

The Taco bell Doritos co-Branded Doritos Locos Tacos is one of the most successful food co-Brands. The co-Brand strategy was carried out through a new product – Doritos Locos Tacos. This was a Taco-Bell shell made out of Nacho Cheese Doritos snack chips. Within the first 10 weeks of this co-Brand launch, 100 million products were sold!

Taco Bell-Doritos used the specific matching ingredients of their Brand to create an ingredient co-Brand. This was possible since the following aspects of both Brands are so well-aligned:

  • Food niche – crunchy snack food

  • Packaged and mobile product

  • Well-established in the U.S. market
